What is an Inbox?

A inbox is a logical place for all communication to appear. All customer communication is grouped into an inbox.

Note

The simplest configuration will have a single inbox. More than one inbox can be created for different purposes depending on the subscription level.

Email

An inbox has an email address associated with it that can receive messages from external customers. The email address is configured during the onboarding process and will be something like:

  • your-mailbox will be a phrase of your choosing like: support, contact, hello, etc

  • your-thing will also be your choice of something like your company name or product name: xyz-ltd, abc-widgets, saas-app, etc

  • emson.email is fixed and cannot be changed (currently)

Form widget

An inbox also has a form widget that can be embedded into your website so customers can appear to be contacting you directly on your own site. Any messages submitted through the embedded form will appear in an inbox in the same way as inbound emails.

Calls or In Person

Inboxes can also have new threads created by users that might be on the telephone with a customer or the customer is there in person.
